Inspiration
Orature is one of a suite of tools that are in the field and in active development to accelerate the oral translation of scripture. Orature focuses on software for Linux, Windows and MAC OS platforms.
What it does
It manages, facilitates, and records audio at the verse, chunk, and chapter level toward complete translation of books of the bible in heart languages
How I built it
The Wycliffe Associate Team is using Kotlin as the language, but this challenge will/may rely on the scripting language that is the preference of the DAW application (Java, Python, C, etc.)
Challenges I ran into
It takes much creative hacking to discover ways in which to execute the desired result. Documentation was seldom the key, and the end result has significant caveats that have to be weighed.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
With each product we engage, we were able to successfully communicate files back and forward as was our target
What I learned
No one magic bullet, each approach is profitable in adding the knowledge but not the entirety of the solution
What's next for Orature 3rd Party DAWS
Taking what we have learned, combining our knowledge, adding further spikes, and testing it in the field
