Oracle of Truth (Roast Oracle)

🔮 Inspiration

We wanted to reimagine the oracle card experience—not as something overly serious or cryptic, but as a blend of mystical wisdom, humor, and the kind of blunt truth that actually helps. Think cosmic sass meets therapeutic shade. Sometimes the best self-help is a good roast from the universe.

💡 What it does

Oracle of Truth is a digital oracle card system that delivers AI-generated messages with varying levels of roast intensity. Users can ask a question or select from quick prompts, then draw a card and receive a sassy, insightful response from a mystical persona. Each card includes a roast, a reflection, and a nudge toward growth—without sugarcoating.

🛠️ How we built it

We built the MVP using: BOLT, Supabase, openAI, etc.

🧱 Challenges we ran into

• Designing roast responses that balance humor, insight, and emotional safety
• Fine-tuning prompt engineering for different tone levels (gentle to hellfire)
• Time limitations meant the card database and persona system are still quite basic - I only know about this 5 days before the end date.
• Building a fun experience while avoiding cliché or offensive phrasing

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Completed a working MVP with card draw, prompt-based AI generation, and roast level control
  
• Created the foundation for a truly unique category: mystical self-help with sass
  
• Defined a full tone system, roast levels, card archetypes, and lore structure
  
• Made people laugh, pause, and think—all with one card pull

• Humor can be a powerful gateway to healing and self-reflection
• Constraints (like energy limits) make the experience feel more sacred and intentional
• People crave honest, entertaining tools for reflection that don’t talk down to them
