Inspiration
As options traders, we realized that planning a single trade often meant switching between multiple platforms—one for strategy building, another for Greeks, another for market analysis, and another for trade journaling. Despite having access to powerful tools, making informed decisions remained difficult, especially for beginners.
We wanted to answer a simple question:
"Why can't one platform help traders build, understand, and improve every trade?"
That question became OptionDeck.
Our vision is to build an AI Copilot for Options Traders—a platform that doesn't just display data but helps traders understand it and make better decisions.
What it does
OptionDeck is an AI-powered options trading intelligence platform designed to simplify the options trading workflow.
With OptionDeck, traders can:
Build and compare options strategies Visualize payoff charts and break-even points Analyze profit, loss, and risk Calculate Greeks and Implied Volatility Receive AI-powered strategy recommendations Maintain a trade journal and review past trades Track portfolio performance Access AI-generated market insights (under development)
How we built it
We designed OptionDeck with a scalable architecture that separates the user interface, business logic, and AI layer.
Frontend React TypeScript Tailwind CSS Next.js Backend Node.js Express.js PostgreSQL Prisma ORM Redis JWT Authentication Docker AI Layer Claude / OpenAI APIs AI-powered strategy explanations Trade review engine Market insight generation
The backend is modular, making it easy to integrate live broker APIs and market data providers in future releases
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges wasn't building the interface—it was designing the backend architecture to support future AI features and broker integrations.
We also discovered that:
Live options market data is difficult to access without broker partnerships. Different brokers expose different APIs and capabilities. Features like Greeks and implied volatility often need to be calculated rather than retrieved directly.
Another challenge was keeping AI reliable. Instead of allowing the AI to generate financial calculations, we designed the system so that mathematical computations are handled by the backend, while AI focuses on explaining results and providing context.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built the foundation of a modular AI-powered options trading platform. Designed a scalable backend architecture for future broker integrations. Created an intuitive strategy-building experience. Combined analytics and AI into a single workflow. Developed a clear product roadmap focused on solving real trader problems instead of simply adding more indicators.
Most importantly, we transformed an idea into a working product that can continue evolving with real user feedback.
What we learned
Building a fintech product taught us that technology alone doesn't solve trading problems.
Traders don't need more numbers—they need better explanations and decision support.
We also learned the importance of validating ideas with real users before adding new features. Conversations with traders helped us prioritize meaningful improvements over unnecessary complexity.
Finally, we learned that AI should complement human decision-making rather than replace it.
What's next for OptionDeck
Our journey is just beginning.
Our next milestones include:
AI Market Brief AI Strategy Advisor Advanced portfolio analytics AI-powered trade reviews Live broker integrations Real-time market data Open Interest & Max Pain analysis AI-powered risk intelligence Private beta with 300–500 active options traders
Our long-term vision is to make OptionDeck the AI Operating System for Options Traders—a platform that helps traders build better strategies, understand market risk, learn from every trade, and continuously improve their decision-making.
We're not trying to replace traders. We're building the AI companion we wish every trader had.
