Inspiration
DevOps engineers spend too much time writing Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Terraform, Nginx, and CI/CD files manually. I wanted a faster way to describe infrastructure once and automatically generate production-ready artifacts.
What it does
OpsPilot X is an AI-powered DevOps Domain Specific Language (DSL) compiler.
Users write infrastructure in a simple DSL, validate it, and generate:
- Docker Compose
- Kubernetes manifests
- Terraform
- Nginx configuration
- GitHub Actions CI/CD
The web interface also provides diagnostics, validation, and downloadable generated files.
How I built it
Backend
- Python
- FastAPI
- Custom Lexer
- Recursive Descent Parser
- AST
- Semantic Validator
- Code Generators
- REST API
Frontend
- React
- Vite
- TypeScript
The compiler converts DSL code into an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), validates it, and generates infrastructure artifacts for multiple platforms.
Challenges
- Designing a custom programming language grammar
- Building a lexer and parser from scratch
- Implementing semantic validation
- Generating multiple infrastructure formats from one source
- Connecting the compiler backend with a modern React frontend
Accomplishments
- Built a working DevOps DSL compiler
- Multi-platform infrastructure generation
- Real-time validation
- Interactive web interface
- Open-source project on GitHub
What I learned
This project helped me understand compiler design, parsing, semantic analysis, infrastructure as code, FastAPI, React, API integration, and software architecture.
What's next
- AI-assisted infrastructure suggestions
- Cloud deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- VS Code extension
- More DevOps resources and generators
- Team collaboration features
Built With
- docker
- fastapi
- github
- kubernetes
- nginx
- python
- react
- terraform
- typescript
- vite
