OpsPilot AI

Inspiration

Modern IT operations teams spend countless hours monitoring alerts, investigating incidents, updating tickets, documenting resolutions, and preparing shift handover reports. Many repetitive operational tasks still require manual effort, leading to slower response times, longer outages, and increased operational costs.

Having worked in production support and operations environments, we experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to quickly identify the root cause of incidents while managing multiple alerts across different systems. We wanted to build a solution that uses AI not just as a chatbot, but as an active operations partner that helps teams resolve issues faster and work more efficiently.

What it does

OpsPilot AI is an AI-powered operations copilot designed for IT Operations, NOC, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering teams.

The platform continuously analyzes operational alerts and incidents, generates intelligent summaries, identifies potential root causes, recommends remediation actions, and automates repetitive support activities.

Key capabilities include:

  • AI-powered alert analysis
  • Incident investigation and root cause insights
  • Automated incident summaries
  • Runbook and SOP generation
  • Shift handover report creation
  • Knowledge base search and recommendations
  • Operational analytics dashboard
  • Ticket creation and workflow automation

By reducing manual investigation time, OpsPilot AI helps teams improve response times, minimize downtime, and increase operational efficiency.

How we built it

OpsPilot AI was built using Google Cloud and Gemini AI technologies.

The application consists of:

  • Frontend dashboard for operations teams
  • Backend APIs for alert processing and workflow automation
  • Gemini API for incident analysis and recommendation generation
  • Cloud-hosted infrastructure for scalability and reliability
  • Database layer for storing incidents, alerts, and operational knowledge

The system processes monitoring alerts, enriches them with contextual information, and leverages Gemini to generate actionable operational insights.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was converting technical monitoring data into meaningful operational recommendations.

Alert data is often noisy, incomplete, or lacks context. We needed to design workflows that could intelligently interpret alerts and generate useful guidance without overwhelming users.

Another challenge was ensuring that AI-generated recommendations remained relevant, practical, and understandable for support engineers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built an AI-native operations assistant focused on real-world IT operations.
  • Automated repetitive operational tasks that traditionally require manual effort.
  • Created a workflow that transforms raw alerts into actionable insights.
  • Developed a scalable architecture that can support growing operational workloads.

What we learned

Through building OpsPilot AI, we gained valuable experience in AI-powered workflow automation, prompt engineering, cloud-native architecture, incident management processes, and operational intelligence systems.

We also learned how AI can be integrated into production operations to improve efficiency while still keeping humans in control of critical decisions.

What's next for OpsPilot AI

Future enhancements include:

  • Integration with ServiceNow, Jira, and PagerDuty
  • Predictive incident detection
  • Automated remediation workflows
  • Multi-cloud monitoring support
  • AI-powered operational knowledge management
  • Advanced analytics and reliability insights

Our vision is to build an AI-native operations platform that enables organizations of all sizes to operate more efficiently, reduce downtime, and deliver better digital experiences.
