Inspiratio

Students regularly miss valuable opportunities not because they lack ambition, but because information is scattered across dozens of websites, social media posts, university channels, newsletters, and community chats.

Hackathons, grants, internships, fellowships, accelerators, competitions, and university programs all have different deadlines, eligibility rules, funding conditions, and application processes. Keeping track of everything manually quickly becomes overwhelming.

OpportunityProof was created to make this process simpler and more reliable.

What it does

OpportunityProof is a centralized opportunity discovery and application management platform for students.

Instead of keeping dozens of tabs, screenshots, saved posts, and calendar reminders, a user can:

  • browse opportunities in one structured catalog;
  • filter them by category, format, funding, deadline, and source;
  • review key eligibility and deadline information;
  • see when information still needs verification;
  • save promising opportunities;
  • move opportunities into an application workflow;
  • track the next action for each application;
  • view deadlines in a calendar;
  • export deadlines as calendar events.

The goal is not simply to show more opportunities. It is to help students understand which opportunities are actually relevant and turn discovery into action.

Why it matters

Many high-value opportunities are technically open to students worldwide, but access to information is unequal.

Students who already know where to search, understand application terminology, and have strong professional networks have an advantage. Others may never discover the same programs before the deadline.

OpportunityProof reduces this information gap by organizing opportunities into a clear and actionable workflow.

Business potential

OpportunityProof can develop into a freemium platform for students, universities, youth organizations, and career centers.

The student-facing discovery and tracking experience can remain accessible, while institutional products could include curated opportunity feeds, analytics, application dashboards, custom opportunity databases, and student engagement tools.

This creates potential for both direct-to-student and B2B partnerships with universities and educational organizations.

How I built it

I designed OpportunityProof as a lightweight web application focused on clarity and speed.

The current prototype includes a searchable opportunity catalog, filters, opportunity detail pages, favorites, application tracking, deadline management, and calendar export.

The interface was designed around one core question: what does a student need to know and do next?

Challenges

The biggest challenge was not building another list of opportunities. It was deciding how to transform unstructured information into useful decisions.

Different programs describe eligibility, funding, deadlines, and participation rules differently. That made source transparency and clear “needs verification” states important parts of the product.

Another challenge was keeping the interface simple while still giving users enough information to make decisions.

What I learned

Building OpportunityProof showed me that information availability and information usability are very different problems.

A student may technically have access to hundreds of opportunities, but without filtering, verification, prioritization, and deadline management, that information has limited practical value.

The strongest product opportunity is therefore not just discovery, but creating a complete workflow from discovery to application.

What's next

The next stage is to add personalized ranking, stronger source verification, automated opportunity ingestion, application recommendations, and institutional dashboards.

The long-term vision is for OpportunityProof to become an operating system for student opportunities: one place to discover, evaluate, plan, and apply.n
