I was inspired to come up with this idea through my own issues and ideas with college. I know my number one issue with college is finding a way to afford it if there isn't enough financial aid. I know this is an issue many first generation low income students must face too, so I decided to focus on financial planning for college so students aren't weighed down with mountains of student loan debt and so students aren't deterred from college because of their fear of not being able to afford it. The main ways to afford college, aside from financial aid, is to find scholarships, part-time jobs, and internships. Naturally, my idea for this project became to get students opportunities that will help them pay for college. Although internships are often unpaid, they also help students find jobs after college so they would be able to pay off any student debt they accumulated. Hopefully this idea could be turned into an actual app that would help many college students, beyond just first generation low income students, although they would gain the most from this project.
