Inspiration💡

When it comes to college as a minority it can be hard to find an organization in the tech field. So why not there be a search platform where organizations can post their organization and students from anywhere can find one that is at their school.

What it does🖱

Organizations would log in and insert events or general information about their organization and then users can search on the platform for organizations that they can join that are near there or at their college.

How we built it🔧

-We began with a brainstorming sesh to discover our skills and interests, and converge on an idea that we were excited about -We chose a parallel structure - Elise and Auntiewhnor worked on the database and backend development while Celine and Rae designed the flow and visual aesthetic in Figma -We used programming languages like Python, HTML, CS, JS, SQL and FastAPI to build the application

Challenges we ran into📝

I think the biggest challenge was being able to set up a proficient database in a short period of time and translating the UX/UI design to code. But we do hope to overcome these challenges in the extra time we can use after the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of🎉

-Creating a cohesive, balanced, and diverse team (from North Carolina, New York, and Vancouver with a designer, front end developer, a data specialist, and a back end developer) -Generating an idea that's #SocialForGood and we're all extremely passionate about -Learning several tools (FastAPI, Figma, etc.)

What we learned📄

-Hackathons take stamina! But we can truly create something meaningful in just a short amount of time and with minimal resources

What's next for Opportunity* ✨

-Opportunity Star is about connecting - and we hope to keep connecting people with amazing stories to opportunities and adventures of their very own -We'd like to create map functionality and a structure for adding many types of opportunities (jobs, events, etc.) that combine smartly with the current database
