As a student, I noticed that finding meaningful opportunities can be surprisingly difficult. Research programs, internships, scholarships, STEM competitions, volunteer opportunities, and other programs are often scattered across dozens of different websites.

I realized that students can miss great opportunities simply because they don't know where to look. That inspired me to create Opportunity Hub—a platform that brings opportunities together in one place and makes discovering them easier.

What it does

Opportunity Hub helps students discover opportunities that match their interests without having to search across dozens of websites. The platform currently brings together 100+ opportunities across multiple categories.

Students can browse, search, filter, view details, and save opportunities, making it easier to find programs worth pursuing and return to them later.

How I built it

I built Opportunity Hub as a responsive web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

I focused on creating a clean and simple interface that makes a large collection of opportunities easy to navigate. I developed the search and filtering system, individual opportunity information, saved opportunities, and navigation to work together as one cohesive experience.

Challenges I ran into

One of my biggest challenges was figuring out how to organize a large amount of information without making the platform feel overwhelming.

I also had to make sure features such as searching, filtering, opportunity details, saving, and navigation worked smoothly together. Testing the application repeatedly helped me find problems, refine features, and improve the overall user experience.

What I learned

Building Opportunity Hub taught me that developing an application is about more than simply making the code work.

I learned the importance of understanding the people you're designing for, organizing information effectively, testing repeatedly, and improving a product based on how someone will actually use it.

Most importantly, I learned how technology can help make opportunities more accessible.

What's next for Opportunity Hub

I want to continue expanding the number and variety of opportunities available on the platform and make discovery even more personalized. Future improvements could include smarter recommendations, additional filtering options, deadline tracking, and tools that help students find opportunities that best match their interests.

My goal for Opportunity Hub is simple:

Turn “I don't know where to look” into “I found my opportunity.”
