What Inspired Me
As a student, I noticed that finding meaningful opportunities can be surprisingly difficult. Research programs, internships, scholarships, STEM competitions, and volunteer opportunities are often spread across dozens of websites. I realized that students can miss opportunities simply because they don't know where to look.
That inspired me to create Opportunity Hub—a platform that brings these opportunities together in one place.
How I Built It
I designed Opportunity Hub as a responsive web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I focused on creating a simple interface where students can browse, search, filter, and save opportunities. The platform currently contains over 100 opportunities across multiple categories.
Challenges
One of my biggest challenges was organizing a large amount of opportunity information while keeping the interface simple. I also had to make sure features such as searching, filtering, opportunity details, and navigation worked together smoothly. Testing and refining the application helped me identify problems and improve the user experience.
What I Learned
Building Opportunity Hub taught me that developing an app is more than just making it work. I learned the importance of understanding users, organizing information effectively, testing repeatedly, and designing around a real problem.
Most importantly, I learned that technology can help make opportunities more accessible. Opportunity Hub turns “I don't know where to look” into “I found my opportunity.”
