Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of Polymarket, where, behind the gambling, you could see the true opinion of the internet. We wanted to use that idea and turn it into a project solely focused on getting knowledge and opinion to those who want it.

What it does

It lets companies and anyone interested make a post to a community where people get compensated to share their opinion through a survey with the original poster and the world. A type of survey bounty hunting. It is a way to give a voice to marginalized communities where their data is usually sold by big tech. Here, the user gets the value of their data more transparently.

We wanted to use Solana for the compensation because of the high frequency of transactions the site would have. Because of Solana's fast execution and near-zero transaction fees, alongside its low environmental impact, we knew it was the best cryptocurrency to use for our site.

How we built it

We were inspired by the layout of Polymarket. With vast categories and surveys right on the front page, we wanted everyone to have a place to share their opinion. We used Typescript and HTML/CSS for the frontend and @solana/web3.js for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

We were all relatively new to the world of writing cryptocurrency focused code, and it was a steep learning curve for us, but using the internet and the power of AI, we were able to accomplish a working crypto transaction.

Regarding the details of the developmental process, the biggest pain was getting the app to actually remember votes and update the screen instantly; it kept showing old numbers until we completely rewrote the logic. Then we had to build a custom "Dev Tool" just to turn our fake test polls into real blockchain transactions without breaking the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Most of us' first hackathon!

What we learned

Github management, UI/UX, Solana TypeScript library

What's next for Opinions

We are hoping to get acquired by Hyperliquid for $100,000
