We were inspired by wondering how people perceived different topics and trying to create a method to decipher if overall perception is good or not.
What it does
It uses Tweepy to search Twitter for a keyword to then write it into CockroachDB which then uses Google's language processing API to then perform a sentiment analysis and return whether perception was positive or not.
How we built it
We used Tweepy to query Twitter, CockroachDB to keep track of found data, Google's language processing API to perform the sentiment analysis and Next.js for our website.
Challenges we ran into
We found we had a lot of work to do so we had to each make an individual component. Combining those components at the end was very time consuming and created errors when we started combining code and we weren't able to fully complete a functional project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to mostly finish what we set out to do.
What we learned
We learned a lot about machine learning, data processing and website creation.
What's next for Opinion
Adding additional support for more detailed breakdowns such as perception over time and more ways to view the perception.
