Inspiration

In Finastra each of the products for e.g. Finastra Cash Management , Global Pay Plus, Kondor etc. have operational dashboards which are tightly coupled with the product itself. Since the technology and the framework of many of these products are of legacy, it becomes extremely time consuming and difficult to create new dashboards to suit customer needs. Lack of good visualizations and absence of key parameters makes the existing dashboards ineffective.

What it does

An operational dashboard which would be hosted on cloud and will be built on a powerful visualization tool called PowerBI.It would aggregate the data from various Finastra products and will give a consolidated view.

How I built it

After watching the power Bi tutorials, was able to download and connect to the Oracle DB.The tutorials helped us understand how to build the dashboards. The design framework was created and the application was built.

Challenges I ran into

New technology - Power Bi, finding time from daily project work. Co-ordinating with team based on the availability of all as everyone was busy in project work and meetings working in different time zones.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Although different working time zones & even companies, team worked together to connect & completed the design of the product to a workable model. We are proud that we as a team learnt a new technology within very short period on our own. Hope to see our product idea resonates with company`s vision.

What's next for Operational Dashboards as a service (ODaaS)

We would like to extend this functionality to third party applications and would be able to provide more pre-configured dashboards so that its easy to create visualizations.
