Inspiration
After analysis of the reason why the Hack for Africa is held, and as Africans, we felt pushed by the desire to help Africa through this Microsoft Challenge.
We have chosen to Hack for Africa in the path Literacy & Education, because we know that Education is Power, and that we are sure that we Learn Today to Lead Tomorrow as our Logo can express it.
Many students do not have direct access to books like they do during the school year. This prevents students from continuing to improve as readers, and also has the potential to set them behind their expected reading levels without inspiration and motivation. Many online services that provide a platform for students to continue reading outside of school require paid accounts, but we believe that literacy isn't a paid privilege and that everyone should have the chance to fall in love with books reading, and stay motivated.
What it does
We explained it properly and clearly in the Video demo.
How we built it
We built our project using: Express; React; Node; PostgreSQL; JavaScript; Html; CSS; API and with Visual Studio Code as editor; Code version control GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
We are in 4 different Countries ( Ethiopia, India, Kenya and South Africa ), so we encountered the time zone difference problem, and having almost 75% of first time experience, it was difficult to code quickly, put the ideas together and deliver on time.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
Being able to submit our project that gave us sleepless night and times of brainstorming for Africa.
What we learned
Patience in Teamwork make us reach common goals no matter the difficulties. And we have been able to Hack for Africa, because we have had access to Literacy and Education.
What's next for Operation 100 For Africa
More sophisticated and responsive platform to meet the requirements of the users.
