Inspiration: unconscious bias is unconscious, most of us have been interviewed by someone at some stage. And everyone wants to be treated equally and fairly, when it comes to some critical life-changing point, how can we remove unconscious bias?
How it works: hiring managers in companies will download the app during their diversity/inclusion training, and the training consultant will encourage them to put down the key takeaways in the app. The app has actions set up with scientific studied frequency to ensure the learning can be converted to long term memory.
Challenges I ran into: This is a really big challenge!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: we have a great team, we came up with a few different solutions to address the problem, but we test our concepts by interviewing experts in the field and have done bitesize interview to test the appetite of different ideas. We bravely ditched a few beloved ideas based on our customer insights and moved on to something minimal yet impactful to get people think and potentially change their behaviours.
What I learned: to remove unconscious bias, users need time to reflect and think, so timing to interact with users is critical, otherwise, we may produce the opposite effect and lead people to be biased.
