This is the opening cutscene of “Aliens Want Our Mascot?!”, a grid-based tower defense game available on iOS and Android! I worked on this project as the lead artist during my summer internship with MassDigi.
I animated and edited the entire cutscene from scratch over the course of 3 weeks! All background art and animation was created in Procreate. Compositing, sound design, and video editing was done in Final Cut Pro. I mixed the audio myself using a combination of royalty-free and in-game sound effects. For the music, I remixed the in-game battle track (composed by Brandon Skylar) to fit the animation.
The characters featured in the animation (aliens, students, and Bovis) were originally designed by Jess Liano.
This animation is the first thing that plays when you open the game!
