Inspiration
OpenFans was built around not being able to fight for concert tickets, despite being a true fan of the artist and having attended past shows or have much higher streams. Plus losing the battle to bots and scalpers.
What it does
We can prove a user has been a fan of the artist by linking supportive behaviour.
- Attending past concerts
- Following an artist's social profiles
- Having a number of streams
- Purchased merch
This socially-driven approach also beats many longstanding problems of bots being used to sweep tickets.
How we built it with Codex and GPT 5.6
As a product person, I haven't seen a single line of Swift prior to this.
Codex on Ultra mode initially planned the technical feasibility of what metadata we can see within a Photokit session, which it highlighted needing a native Apple experience.
Once the app was built, it helped include steps around the complex process of granting media permission access and self signing an app. Without this it would have taken hours of internet research.
Challenges we ran into
Making sure photos can't be spoofed, shared by a friend or downloaded from the internet. Codex helped highlight an additional metadata on the time a photo was addded to the gallery, helping us prove if the photo was sent later on just to pass the verification.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building an entire Swift MVP with zero knowledge a week before as a product person.
What we learned
A bunch of native Swift development, deep dive into Photos metadata, and still picking up how the concert industry works to sell to.
What's next for OpenFans
Further safeguards to ensure a concert video is truly authentic. Link one secondary element either streaming or social media. Apply to YC with this.
