Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the need of treatment in mental health. Millions of people suffer with these kinds of problems but don't consider getting the necessary treatment such as consulting a therapist because they are either busy or undermine their situation. OpenCircle was built to tackle this problem; by providing an accessible AI companion, we offer a low-pressure way of seeking immediate help. Our goal isn't just to talk, but to help users recognize the help they need.

What it does

OpenCircle provides an AI companion that blends personalized emotional support, peer connection, and access to professionals. When you first join, you can choose details like your age, language, location, and preferred support you're looking for. This information helps the AI adapts its tone, vocabulary and empathy level to match your age. From there, you can explore different types of support. You can talk with an AI designed to help you reflect and understand what you're feeling, even if you don't know how to put it in your words. You can connect and chat with others going through similar experiences through the peer connections. If you're ready for professional help, you can browse and connect with the therapists near you based on your locations.

How we built it

Through the figma make AI, we made and structured our website, "OpenCircle".

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we had was figma make to create something we had in mind. While we tried to make our prompts specific and detailed, the AI sometimes didn't do what we intended or added something new that wasn't on the plan.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully making a website that functions, meaning that it has an actual chat box AI that we can interact with.

What we learned

We learned the struggles and enjoyment of creating a system from scratch. While we wanted more time to make the system better, we believe that we've done what we could've in the time slot.

What's next for OpenCircle

We would like to have as functional of an AI as possible. Companies usually use their own LLM's with info from the sector and verified by professionals. We would love to have a system where the AI has specialized responses for certain situations/users and that we have a team of professionals that make sure what we are putting out there is correct.
