What it does

openapply is a self-hosted Personal AI that runs your job hunt. It finds public roles, drafts evidence-based applications, and never submits anything without your explicit approval. Your CV, credentials, and conversation state never leave your machine.

Job hunting has two failure modes: spend 3 hours on a job board and apply to nothing, or hand it to an "auto-apply" bot that spams 200 applications you'd never sign your name to. openapply is the third option — a local AI assistant that does the research, the drafting, and the tracking, but physically cannot act without you.

• Finds public roles — a supervised browser worker extracts real postings from public job boards.
• Drafts evidence-based applications — every claim is mechanically grounded in your profile; the pipeline refuses to invent facts.
• Human approval gates — nothing is submitted without your explicit approval card, enforced in code, not just promised in the UI.
• Tracks everything — applications, receipts, employer responses, and ghost-employer detection in one dashboard.

Bring your own models — openapply's per-role model routing lets each pipeline stage use the best model for it. Any OpenAI-compatible provider (Nebius, OpenRouter, self-hosted endpoints, and more) plugs in as a custom provider from the Models screen, no code changes needed.

How it's built

TypeScript monorepo: Node server + React Native/Expo mobile client (iOS, Android, web). Per-role model routing with HMAC-isolated browser workers (parallel computer isolation, per-role Chromium profiles, snapshot-before-action). Immutable application state machine — terminal states can't be rewritten. Automated test suite, all passing; type-clean across server and mobile. What I'd do next

Finish the remaining build slices — the application tracker and the supervised-apply prefill gate fix — complete the self-owned chat harness (TanStack AI + AG-UI, replacing CopilotKit), then cut the production self-hosted release so anyone can run openapply on their own machine.
