Job hunting has two failure modes: spend 3 hours on a board and apply to nothing, or hand it to an "auto-apply" bot that spams 200 applications you'd never sign your name to. openapply is the third option — a local AI assistant that does the research, the drafting, and the tracking, but physically cannot act without you: every browser action waits on a human approval card. Your CV, credentials, and conversation state never leave your machine.

What it does: finds public roles via a supervised browser worker; drafts evidence-based applications where every claim is mechanically grounded in your profile (the pipeline refuses to invent facts); human approval gates enforced in code; tracks applications, receipts, and ghost employers in one dashboard. Bring your own models — per-role routing lets each pipeline stage use the best model; any OpenAI-compatible provider plugs in as a custom provider, no code changes needed.

Honest disclosure: this project was built September–October 2026, within the hackathon's new-work window, as an open-source job-search assistant; it is being submitted to Code for Humanity for its impact on job seekers who need leverage most. TypeScript monorepo (server + React Native/Expo client), 398 automated tests, AGPL-3.0.
