Main Idea of the Proposed Innovation:
The Open Vehicle Initiative (OVIniti.com) will leverage a community based approach to provide vehicle owners and fleet managers with access to valuable data about their vehicles (Electronic Vehicle Records). Innovative applications and incentive programs will motivate community members to become knowledgeable and take positive action to reduce vehicle expenses and improve financial and energy efficiency.
Community members may opt-in to provide OBD-II, GPS and Service data that will be stored in a secure cloud based environment and shared (and managed) by the member. Data compliance will be rewarded through the ability to share data with interested parties; initially including retailers of vehicle consumer goods, insurance companies, mechanics and automobile manufacturers and dealers; to name a few.
Empowered by the Open Data Initiative members will be provided applications that allow them to reduce risks, increase efficiency and avoid costs associated with their vehicle expenses.
