Inspiration Fraud and waste cost organizations billions annually, yet whistleblowers fear retaliation. We were inspired to create a trustless system that protects anonymity while ensuring accountability, merging blockchain, AI, and privacy tech to redefine transparency.
What it does HyperWhistle lets users anonymously report fraud/waste/abuse via: Tamper-proof reporting: Blockchain-backed submissions with IPFS evidence storage. AI triage: NLP/ML auto-prioritizes cases, reducing investigation time. Crypto rewards: Anonymous payouts for validated claims. Compliance tools: GDPR-ready workflows for enterprises/governments.
How we built it Backend: Hyperledger Fabric for immutable records; IPFS for decentralized evidence. Anonymity: Tor integration + zero-knowledge proofs for user protection. AI: Python-based NLP (spaCy) and risk-scoring ML models (TensorFlow). Frontend: React.js with E2E encryption; Monero payouts via smart contracts.
Challenges we ran into Balancing anonymity with investigatory transparency (solved via pseudonymous case IDs). Training ML models on sparse fraud datasets (used synthetic data augmentation). Ensuring GDPR compliance in decentralized systems (developed on-chain data redaction tools)
Accomplishments we’re proud of Built a fully anonymous reporting system with zero leaks during stress tests. Reduced investigation time by 40% using AI-driven prioritization. Partnered with 2 NGOs for pilot testing, validating real-world impact.
What we learned Privacy tech (Tor, ZKP) can coexist with accountability. Stakeholder trust hinges on UX simplicity, not just tech. Regulatory compliance is a feature, not a bug—design for it early.
What's next for Open Efficiency: Empowering Truth through Technology Global expansion: Multi-language support and local compliance frameworks. AI upgrades: Predictive analytics to flag fraud before it occurs. Decentralized governance: DAO-style community oversight for investigations. Hardware integration: Secure USB/device reporting for air-gapped environments.
