Inspiration
A lot of the inspiration comes from the challenges I had faced myself and thousands of students face the same challenges every year. I wanted to put an end to students being stressed before their tests because they missed or did not pay attention during school.
What it does
Allows students to access in-person recorded lectures from their own teachers in their school. As well as allowing students to access lectures across the board in their school and further their knowledge.
How we built it
Used HTML, CSS and JS to build the web app
Challenges we ran into
Alot of the challenges had to do with bugs and trial & error. I wanted the code to be centralized but had to add the home page code to every page unfortunately. (Had less time)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Im proud of the fact that it was a busy week but I still managed to get my web app together, the JavaScript coding was a little challenging due to bugs and errors but it worked out well. CSS was used for each section on every page so it was a pretty cool accomplishment
What we learned
I learnt that a lot of pre planning is helpful and allows you to manage your time better. Some of my code with regard to HTML needs to be fixed (Doesnt hurt the site) but it is indeed an inefficient block of code.
What's next for Open Education Inc
If Open Education receives the funding we deserve, we will expand to many school districts which allows students to have access to their education in their particular school with recorded in-person videos. A lot of low income based communities can highly benefit with having the opportunity to access recorded in-person lectures that they can access from their home, libraries, friend etc. A research study also proves that recorded videos helps students improve their knowledge and therefore test scores. Students will have a greater quality of education, their educational outcome: getting into good colleges and further improving their communities value therefore uplifting low income based families. School districts are incentivized to implement the web application as doing so only improves their test scores and therefore uplifting the educational value provided at that particular school. It also promotes transparency and allows students to have access to every teachers lecture at the school and further improve their skillset. Open Education can be vastly improved by using Artificial Intelligence Applications such as ChatGPT, WolfRam or even NLP to help students learn faster, better and more effectively.
