Extracted data from the PDF files shared for challenge.

Challenges we ran into

• Data extraction tools like OCR are inaccurate
• Lack of automated data validation
• Crowdsourced data entry (like mechanical turk)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Enable digital access to individual items in data
• Create dynamic visualizations of Mortality causes in Venezuela https://public.flourish.studio/story/35244/

What we learned

• OCR tools are fast, though inaccurate
• Validation of data was required and valuable.

What's next for Open Data and Venezuelan Health Indicators

• Access to data can be used by researchers, doctors and WHO groups
• Describe best practices to consume and share this information to citizens
