Inspiration
openCircle's inspiration is the present moment/space. Most of us exist in a state of constant tension created out of craving or aversion. We either are craving for good things/spaces to occur in our life or we are averting away from the bad things/space. Why not actually look around where you stand/are right now and see what's good instead for once? Take a breath.
openCircle attempts to bring us closer to the present moment/space by connecting us to the people that are most real (vs social media virtuality) and closest to us, literally.
What's better to spark a conversation with those around you than the beautiful art of music? openCircle shows you what people around you have been listening to on Spotify so that it's easy for you to break the ice. You can begin your conversation through the app but the hopes are for a real conversation to be struck, it being possible because of the vicinity.
What we learned?
We used a tech stack that we had never used before. It made making the app way harder to make but we also learned a lot in the process.
How we built it?
Started it using React Native, Firebase, Express. Later switch to React, Firebase, Express.
Challenges:
Learning new libraries and trying to finish the app on time.
