Oopsy!

Inspiration

Oopsy! was inspired by the contradictions of modern love how beauty often comes with pain, and how women reshape themselves to fit expectations. The high heel became a perfect metaphor: elegant yet restrictive, seductive yet cruel. I wanted to capture that emotional irony and turn it into a playful, self-aware visual narrative that feels both surreal and human.

What it does

The film visualises the emotional transformation of a woman who keeps changing herself for love. Using AI-generated visuals and stylised live-action shots, Oopsy! blends fashion, music and humour to tell a story of self-awareness. When the heroine finally removes her heels and dances barefoot, it symbolises breaking free from perfectionism and reclaiming her true self.

How we built it

We combined traditional post-production tools (Cinema 4D, Redshift, After Effects) with AI generation workflows. The AI was used to reimagine outfits, facial variations and surreal compositions, while the core visual rhythm, colour, pacing and compositing, was directed manually. Each frame was adjusted to retain emotional authenticity, ensuring that AI served as a creative partner rather than a replacement.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was keeping the AI-generated faces and lip-sync realistic for an East-Asian performer. Current models tend to distort subtle facial structures and expressions. Achieving emotional precision required iterative prompting, manual frame correction and extensive compositing to balance technology with aesthetics. Conceptually, merging meme-like absurdity with high-fashion visuals without feeling kitsch was also a delicate balance.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of how Oopsy! integrates technology and storytelling without losing its emotional truth. It’s both an AI experiment and a feminist statement, a pop-inspired, visually rich music video that uses humour and surrealism to question identity, control and authenticity in love. The work has also demonstrated how AI can enhance artistic direction when guided with clear aesthetic intention.

What we learned

We learned that AI generation is not a shortcut, but a new creative language. The key lies in maintaining artistic control, in knowing when to let algorithms surprise you, and when to bring human precision back. The process reminded us that technology can amplify emotion if handled with design discipline and empathy.

What’s next for Oopsy!

We are currently producing a behind-the-scenes documentary that reveals how Oopsy! was made combining live-action shooting, traditional animation, and AI-assisted techniques. The film will open up our creative process, showing how these different methods can coexist within a single aesthetic language. Through this BTS project, we hope to share practical insights with other creators and inspire new ways of blending human craftsmanship with generative technology in future productions.
