Inspiration

Tired of hitting the snooze botton a thousand times and missing out on a productive day again? We start off the project with a determined aim for change for both ourselves and our friends. We would like to say goodbye to traditional alarms which never succeed in rousing us from bed, along with all the morning struggles. That's why we create this annoying but unique alarm.

What it does

It forces motivates you to get out of bed by annoying you with a long-lasting crowing engaging you in a series of fun activities. You are going to embrace new morning routine with our specially designed challenges. Wondering what awaits you? Discover and complete a variety of tasks to stop the cock from crowing and turn waking up into a positive new day with OOOlarm!

How we built it

We started by constructing a fundamental, simple alarm using React Native. After that, we progressively enhance its features and add aesthetic appeal through iterative development. We utilize Android Studio for emulation and testing.

Challenges we ran into

• For some of us, this is the first time that we are building a mobile application, and we definitely spent quite a bit of time setting up and getting used to it.
• One of the biggest challenges that we had is to make sure that the application runs in the background and launches at the correct time. Sadly, we did not manage to resolve this.

What we learned

• We have definitely learnt more about mobile app development!

What's next for OOOLARM

• We will be introducing more interesting tasks for you to explore
• We are planning to incorporate generative AI to improve the variaty of our content
• We are developing a point accumulation system or immersive storylines (e.g. keeping virtual pets or growing trees as you progress) to encourage the cultivation of long-term behaviours
