Inspiration
As college student we are constantly trying to stay on task and be organized. Our goal was to write a program that would create timed and non-timed tasks, and organize them into lists. We have a settings menu that users can manually enter ".exe" files and prevent them from running. We wanted to create a free program for students where it would force them to concentrate on certain tasks while why study.
What it does
OnTask prompts the users with a menu. Users can create lists, current and pasts tasks. The timed tasks have a count down feature, where it compares the due-date to the current time. There is even a function to set an active task within each list. Users can also access the settings menu and make modifications to how they want the OnTask program to run.
How we built it
We coded this in c++ using classes and functions.
Challenges we ran into
We were unable to get the sound to work when a time task is completed. Or to display notifications when a task is completed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to lock down certain applications in running a blacklist.
What we learned
We relearned c++ classes and the structure of the language. How to import sound and external files into c++ code.
What's next for OnTask
A GUI so that OnTask is easier to manage, and to fix the sound so a notification bell would trigger when a timed task is completed. Fix the killProcess() function so that it continues to kill the process while a project is running.
