Inspiration

They said “you can just do things,” so I did.

For the Bolt Hackathon I vibe coded and re-imagined radio. Introducing OnRadio, powered by Bolt.new

This brings together my passion for music, languages and technology into one magical product 🎧🔥

Here’s how my new free app beats these products in their free version: vs. Spotify. Doesn’t randomly change the song you’re listening to and doesn’t randomly play ads for you. It resembles more the radio experience and you still get ads, but a lot less. vs. YouTube Music/YouTube. Doesn’t stop playing if you minimise the app/browser. So you can listen to OnRadio for free while working out, driving, running, etc. You don’t even need an account! vs. Radio. You can listen to radio stations not only from your country but from any country in the world, in any language. You can also choose a genre instead of trying to find something you like on the normal radio, and it automatically plays for you the most popular radio station in the genre or country if you choose country.

Here’s how I know this is a great product. Every single person I have showed this to loves it and is now actively using it. But beyond that, I love it and I’m using it now daily, multiple times a day. I’m also discovering great music/radio stations in other languages and countries I would have never even heard of otherwise. Like yesterday I heard music in Thai and German for the first time!! And really enjoyed it. I also found a radio station I really like in Belgium where my brother lives (this has special meaning for me because it connects me with my brother who I love and miss. I’ve never been to Belgium. He’s never been to Australia. I know, it’s sad. Last time I saw my brother was 4 years ago and the time before that, I hadn’t seen him in 8 years! 😭)

How we built it

100% in Bolt.new. Vibe coding and vibing with music, passion and love. Lots of love with sprinkles of dreams.

Challenges we ran into

Initially it was very hard to find a seamless transition between different countries, languages and radio stations, but working together with Bolt, my cofounders I was finally able to find a solution.

Incredibly positive feedback from people in the X Community

We have users as young as 7 years old and as old as 75 years old.

What we learned

Bolt is incredibly powerful and if something isn't working like you expect it, switch to discuss mode in Bolt and brainstorm alternative solutions or approaches to the problem you are trying to solve. Don't give up when you encounter setbacks, stay focused and persist. Make your vision a reality.
