Inspiration

The original idea of ONO really came from one of the research meeting we had during the NFT boom last year in 2021, we as a collector thought about a solution towards all our worthless, liquid-less NFTs that can't be sold on any marketplace, neither benefits from any NFT-fi protocol. If we can create a web 3 game that anyone with at least one NFTs can participate.

What it does

ONO is a free metaverse claw machine game where players earn $ONO tokens by completing daily challenges and competitions, then use the $ONO tokens to play and win NFTs from Resellers, who benefit more compared to reselling NFTs on traditional marketplaces. Resellers earn $MKG tokens by listing any NFTs ranging from emerging to blue-chip collections and earn $ONO/$MKG when the NFTs are won/sold to the winning player.

How we built it

We use React and Next.js to build our frontend, and we utilize web3.js and other related public packages to connect the user’s wallet and interact with the smart contract.

Challenges we ran into

We assembled the tech team in a short time, and we did not have an experienced project manager. Everyone has some experience in dApp development, but the familiar tools are different. It took a lot of effort of try-and-error and communication to make things work. The smart contract development went relatively smoother, while the front-end still requires much further work. In the end, we are not able to finish all functions we desired to present on the front-end, even though the smart contract is ready.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Tokenomics centric design and sustainable in-game use case. Most NFTs or gaming projects think that "tokenomics" is distribution or vesting schedule, but ONO focuses on sustainable economic flywheel and tokenomic design. We are really proud of what we have built as the very beginning of this web 3 gaming project.

What we learned

As a GameFi project, it is very important to have a slick UI/UX and a functional user interface. We should have focused more on the front-end architecture and had a dedicated person to continuously communicate with team members to keep everything on track. In other words, the quality of the tech lead and project management are the ultimate factors to determine the quality of the product. This is what we did not do very well this time, which we will improve in the future.

What's next for ONO

After ONO successfully acquire as much from NFT resellers and emerging NFTs projects, we are looking into partnership with metaverse platforms to boost retention and stickiness.
