Inspiration

Our inspiration for Only Two came from the growing need to make sustainability accessible to everyone. We realized that people want to make a difference but often don’t know where to start. By creating a simple and engaging platform, we wanted to empower users to take small steps toward greener living while making it rewarding and fun.

What it does

Only Two is a mobile-friendly platform that encourages users to adopt eco-friendly habits. Users can earn points for recycling, saving energy, or reducing waste, and redeem these points for eco-conscious products from our partner brands. The platform also offers educational content, workshops, and a community-driven experience where members can share tips and challenges to live more sustainably.

How we built it

We built Only Two using a combination of React for the frontend and Mui for the design components to ensure a clean, responsive user interface. Our backend was developed using Node.js and MongoDB to handle user data and reward points securely. We also integrated API connections to offer real-time data on user activities and track their eco-friendly behaviors.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was ensuring that the platform remained user-friendly while offering enough features to keep users engaged. We also had to overcome the technical challenge of building a rewards system that integrates seamlessly with our partner brands. Additionally, ensuring data privacy and secure transactions for reward points was a complex task that required extra attention.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a platform that truly empowers individuals to live more sustainably. The Rewards Membership Program is one of our proudest accomplishments, as it incentivizes positive behavior in a fun and engaging way. We’re also proud of the strong community that has formed around the platform, with users actively participating in challenges and sharing tips.

What we learned

Throughout this journey, we learned the importance of balancing functionality with user experience. Creating a platform that is both educational and engaging takes thoughtful planning. We also gained valuable insights into sustainability trends and how to motivate users to adopt eco-friendly behaviors through rewards and community support.

What's next for Only Two

We have exciting plans for the future! Next, we’ll expand our partnerships with more eco-conscious brands, offering a wider variety of rewards. We’re also planning to introduce a carbon footprint tracker, so users can directly see the impact of their actions. Additionally, we aim to build more advanced analytics to help users track their progress and create custom sustainability goals.
