Inspiration
Meeting up with someone or with a group of people isn’t the same as it was before. You can’t go out whenever you want to or wherever you want to without some preparation beforehand. A lot of thought and effort has to go into it because of the new normal set by COVID. This inspired one of our team members to come up with the core idea for the app.
What it does
It allows the user to search up places they want to go to and read up on the COVID protocols and whether their vaccination status is accepted by the place. The places can be restaurants, malls, libraries, etc. Along with this, the user can access the address and other basic information about the place.
How we built it
We used Figma to build a visual representation of how our app would look like. We used Google maps API to lay the core functionality of our app. Vaccination status verified by CoWin (or other local government systems)
Challenges we ran into
With the varying levels of experience we had in our group it was difficult to visualize a coherent plan since not all of us knew the terms and components that go into building an app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Coming up with an idea and attempting to materialize in a short amount of time as beginners.
What we learned
The important part about hackathons is to have fun and use it as an opportunity to learn instead of focusing on the competitive side of things.
What's next for The Traveller’s Guide
To keep on evolving and expanding our app from city to city. Supporting more platforms for verification of vaccination status.
