Inspiration
As people who love online shopping, we wanted to create a simple, safe, and easy way to shop online for people like us.
What it does
The app simulates an online clothing store app and allows the user to create an account with their own unique login, browse through a variety of clothing categories with detailed information listed for each product, and saves their shopping cart.
How we built it
Using Java libraries, we created a GUI that provides the user with the best experience. In order to achieve this, we created a login page that uses encryption and decryption that remembers user login, and JFrames to navigate to each page on our app.
Challenges we ran into
As students who did not have much exposure to UI, our first hurdle was implementing the javax.swing libraries that provided us with different tools create an app. Then, we were challenged with implementing random decryption that makes this app secure for all users. Linking the different JFrames together with buttons and action events were also a challenge for us, since we had no previous experience working with them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a functional GUI that allows the user to navigate our app smoothly without errors.
What we learned
We learned how to use the java.swing library to implement user interface efficiently and explored GUI as a whole. We became proficient in designing UI without the help of HTML.
What's next for Shopper Hopper
We plan on implementing custom cookie saving on personal devices to make login easier, adding features to save payment methods, expanding the categories the user can browse, and implementing shopping history after purchases.
