Inspiration

One of our group members is a student pilot, and he thought that the calculations here might be useful.

What it does

Usually, the calculations would be done on a E6B flight computer, and the aim was to replicate some of that functionality. The program can calculate various data that would be useful to a pilot when flying.

How we built it

We wrote our scripts in VS Code using some knowledge we previously obtained though other projects, and used sources to obtain some of necessary formulas. We primarily received help from a flight school program called "King School" as well as a webpage from "GeeksforGeeks.org" (webpage posted below) https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/program-distance-two-points-earth/

Challenges we ran into

Since we are all beginners, we mostly had a cap as to what our capabilities would be in twenty four hours. We knew this, and tried to make do with the skills we had, such as web development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is all of our's first hack-a-thon, and we are all proud to have gotten to put this experience under our belt.

What we learned

We learned a ton. Some of what comes to mind is we learned how to carry yourself around company sponsors, how to coordinate scripting between a team, and most importantly how to have fun with coding.

What's next for Online Flight Computer

Our member Chris will use this program for his flight training whenever other calculators are not available.
