What's next for Online Auction System
Nowadays, the online web-based auction system has become the extremely popular component in the electronic marketplace. Auctions were carried in auction houses and the bids were made with the auctioneer delegating the bids and this method required the physical presence of the bidders, thus it resulted in many limitations. Online auctions allow buyers and sellers to overcome geographical constraints and purchase products anytime from anywhere over the internet. The online household auction system provides the consumers with great advantages of low prices, greater product selection and greater efficiency compared to the usual traditional offline auctions. Some background information and related research on the system that I employed are presented in this paper. Some of the problems being presented in this project include; Lack of secure places to auction items, Bidders have to travel a certain distance for the product and Only limited people are allowed in auction places. The main objective of this Web App was to design and develop an Online Household Auction System. To ensure that activities are planned in a chronological manner, the system will be developed using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model. From all the SDLC models, the waterfall model is the most suitable for this system. I collected data using online questionnaires, the analysis of data was done using google forms and the results from system requirements. An Online Household Auction system was developed where users could post their products for auction; bidder can register and can bid for any available product. My sample was mainly made up of fellow students and adults, from the results obtained most of my respondents were between the age of 15-24 years and 65.2% did not participate in an auction. Results of the system’s benefits was a user-friendly system and no schedule constraints while challenges faced by the respondents included live auctions require you to travel to the auction and Potential bidders must register to attend an auction. 89.1% of the respondents would recommend our system which was a good sign to go ahead with the project.
