Inspiration

As a consultant, I spent endless nights crafting client presentations—researching structure, writing scripts, tweaking design. I saw peers in education and content creation struggle with the same: great ideas stuck behind tedious slide-building. I wanted to build a tool that lets creators focus on their message, not the mechanics.

What it does

PresentationMaker AI transforms a single topic into a complete presentation (10-15 slides) in 10 mins—including structured content, audience-aligned scripts, visual charts, and brand customization. Edit in real-time, reorder slides, and export to PPT/Google Slides/PDF.

How we built it

We started with core AI logic (Node.js + OpenAI API) to generate structured content/ scripts. Built a React frontend for the editor (slide preview, real-time editing), integrated Chart.js for data visuals, and used AWS for cloud storage of brand assets. We iterated on UI/UX with Figma to keep it intuitive for busy professionals.

Challenges we ran into

Syncing real-time edits across panels without data loss was tough—we had to optimize state management in React. Matching script length to presentation duration required precise word-count logic, and ensuring export formats preserved design integrity took weeks of testing with Puppeteer.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a tool that delivers a complete presentation in 10 mins (on par with our goal) and lets users fully customize branding/ content. Real-time auto-save works flawlessly, and exports maintain editability in PowerPoint/Google Slides—something users told us was non-negotiable.

What we learned

We mastered balancing AI automation with user control—too much automation felt restrictive, too little defeated the purpose. We also learned how critical audience-centric design is: educators needed different tone/structure than consultants, so we built flexible selectors for each user type.

What's next for this project

We’re adding user accounts to save presentation history, real-time collaboration for team edits, and advanced animation tools. We also plan to integrate voice narration features and connect to external data tools to pull live data into charts—making the tool even more seamless for busy professionals.
