Inspiration

Finding short-term gigs shouldn’t feel like a full-time job. Scrolling through endless listings, applying manually, reading lot of job description and waiting for replies can be overwhelming especially for freelancers juggling multiple platforms.

We wanted to change that. Inspired by how Tinder simplified dating, we asked ourselves: “What if finding your next gig was as easy as swiping right?”

That spark led to OneSwipe a platform that makes gig discovery fast, fun, and perfectly tailored to you.

What it does

✨ Create personalized profiles with skills, preferences, and work availability. ⚡ Get intelligently matched to gigs that fit their profile. 👉 Swipe right to save gigs or left to skip simple and intuitive. 💳 Add payment details through our escrow system for safe transactions. 📂 Manage all saved or active gigs in a single dashboard.

How we built it

We worked collaboratively using Jira to manage design, frontend, and backend sprints:

🎨 Design: Built a clean, user-centered prototype showing the flow: signup → onboarding → preferences → swipe → dashboard. 💻 Frontend: Designed the interactive swipe mechanism, onboarding flow, and dashboard experience. 🧠 Backend: Developed APIs for authentication, profile setup, escrow payment logic, and gig recommendations. 🔗 Integration: The frontend consumes backend APIs to keep everything dynamic and seamless.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part? Implementing the swipe mechanism. We had to balance performance, responsiveness, and real-time updates saving swiped gigs instantly while fetching new ones smoothly.

Another challenge was designing the escrow payment system, ensuring gig seekers and clients stay protected from start to finish.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully interactive prototype showcasing the complete gig-seeker journey. Designed a delightful UI that makes job discovery feel effortless. Structured a scalable backend ready for production. Maintained team synergy with clear sprint tracking using Jira

How to build engaging swipe-based interactions. How to plan and collaborate effectively across design, FE, and BE. How escrow systems build trust in gig-based marketplaces. The importance of connecting backend logic with clean, responsive UI.

What's next for OneSwipe

Integrate AI-driven gig recommendations to improve matching accuracy. Add in-app messaging for communication between clients and seekers. Expand payment options and add KYC verification. Launch a mobile-first version for gig seekers on the go
