Often elderly are prone to sudden medical catastrophes all on their own. Existing products put the responsibility of sending an alert on the victim, who may not always be in a condition to respond. OneStep is an easy-to-use app that notifies an emergency contact of potentially dangerous behavior and allows for prompt responses in cases of emergency.

What it does

Keeps track of activity level using phone's pedometer and sends periodic text message alerts (including location) to emergency contacts if the desired activity is not maintained for a specified period of time. If prolonged inactivity is observed, then a phone call is automatically placed.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

Maintaining dynamic counters and resetting in response to setting changes

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It has real world application

What we learned

Sensors are hard to work with

What's next for OneStep

Improved front-end, additional settings, and improved granularity
