Inspiration

With a passion to make the world a greener place, but not just relying on the 'greenwashing' by major brands, we wanted to truly make a difference by implementing a solution that benefits both the consumer and the brand through transparency and accessability. We realized behind the marketing, there’s another supply chain cog in play that consumers – and potentially even brand owners – have little idea on how to ‘green up’. Freight Cosmetic retailers or shippers, and even customers, want to know about what mode of transport is involved in getting their products from A to B. Companies want to be good corporate citizens now; everyone’s talking about greener and cleaner and electric provision so that air quality is better and that there is some cooperation between different parties in the supply chain.

What it does

OneSTaAP verifies, improves and communicates brands sustainability, making the process transparent and accessible. Through an online platform, OneSTaAP wants to give brands and manufacturers all the instruments and information they need to obtain a global assessment of their sustainable performance. This allows a consumer to choose which brand is most sustainable

How we built it

There are two individual platforms, one for the Brand owner and another for the consumer. The brand owner uses our universal platform to improve and communicate their sustainability journey, which is then shared with the consumer. The brand has the option to increase its sustainability quotient by improving its packaging process, choosing the most sustainable mode of transport, calculating carbon footprint (One record API), or simply planning in advance the most efficient route. Once the brand has chosen and booked via the online platform, the consumer sees the sustainable quotient for different brands selling the similar item (for example clothes) and selects the brand with the highest sustainable quotient

Challenges we ran into

  • No experience in Java,
  • Getting started with One Record API
  • Adobe Xd crashed
  • Bad weather and traffic in Amsterdam

With the right guidance and information, there is a lot of scope for brands to make their sustainable journey transparent and accessible allowing consumers to make a greener choice. What may seem like a very simple project today, will be the STEP to a great impact in the journey to sustainability and making a difference in the world.
