This project was inspired by moving homes from San Jose to Los Angeles. As my parents showed me the new house, they complained about how annoying it was to forget information about their things, forget how to fix their things and try to sell their things. It turns out they were trying to sell a couch on Poshmark. That’s when I thought, “why can’t our stuff just sell themselves.”
What it does
This project is purposed to make online resale simple (especially for people who sell a lot of things online). We achieve this by: aggregating your clothing inventory onto our platform; scraping online resale platform data so you understand the trends behind what you want to sell; posting on multiple resale platforms from our website (feature to be built).
How we built it
We used a combination of react, redux, django, beautifulsoup, selenium.
Challenges we ran into
Web Scraping java enabled websites
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that we finally got to understand how to scrape data from a website. We’re most proud of working in an interdisciplinary team on a project.
What we learned
We learned that scraping data from websites are hard. We also learned that deliverables need to be backtracked and planned for with a bit more leeway.
What's next for Oner
We plan to build out the auto-list feature so people can easily post their listing on multiple resale websites in 1 go.
