Inspiration

From hearing about it on the news, to reading stories about in English, I began to realize how serious the overdose crisis is in Canada. It is estimated hat approximately 25-29% of patients prescribed opioids to treat chronic pain misuse them and become addicted; I knew this wasn't right and had to help find a way to solve this.

What it does

My app, OneLog, helps bridge the connection between doctors and patients on pain relief medications by providing an app for patients to log their doses, gain badges, rewards, etc while the doctor is able to track dosage consumption and notice irregularities through their own web portal. Almost all overdoses and addictions on pain medications stem from regular prescribed usage that gets out of hand, and so OneLog hopes to notice and prevent addiction before it is too late.

How I built it

I used Android tied with Firebase and Google Cloud for the client-end app, and ran a simple web app to host a portal on the doctor's end of the platform.

Challenges I ran into

Designing and getting the web app up and running was rather difficult, as well getting the Android app connected to Google Cloud.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Firstly, I am proud to be able to help contribute in finding a solution to this crisis and being able to help other. This is also one of my best UI works so far, and since it is typically my weakness it makes me rather proud.

What I learned

I had the opportunity to learn a lot about the crisis through research as well as having a deeper dive into the world of android and web development.
