Inspiration

The fear of lockdowns due to the current corona pandemic has caused panic shopping in many countries. Goods like toilet paper, pasta or flour were not available for days or even weeks in some places.

With an emergency stock of food, drinking water and some equipment you won’t need to buy when everybody else does. On top of that, you are prepared for any major crisis. In case of a natural disaster or immediate total lockdown you have everything needed already at home. So you and you beloved ones can stay home and healthy!

What it does

ONEGUARD is a crisis preparedness app. This app enables you to plan, shop and manage an emergency stock according to your individual needs (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, allergies, number and age of household members etc.).

By doing so, the ONEGUARD app will help to avoid panic buing as we have seen it the last weeks all over Europe. Furthermore, it will prepare people for any kind of crisis such as blackouts, cyber attacks on critical infrastructure or even natural disasters like earthquakes or tsunamies. The app could be easily adapted to different countries and be used worldwide.

How I built it

The idea was selected at the Techstars Online Startup Weekend to fight COVID-19. An international team worked on the concept and a sustainable (non-profit) business model. We already gained some proof of concept by creating a landing page with ready designed mockups of the app. The results are online available at: https://oneguard.org/

What's next for ONEGUARD

During the hackathin we would like to build a first prototype of the app to measure interest, ask for funding from the European and national emergency agencies and maybe start a crowd funding campaign.

Therefore, we mainly need app developers to produce this prototype. UI / UX designers are welcomed too :-)
