1. The problem
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, Erasmus+ is set on hold to mitigate the impact of Covid-19
- Students are not able to participate in Erasmus+ anymore
- Studying abroad is a unique chance once in a lifetime which could get lost for thousands of students
- The isolation also hinders collaboration between universities
- Existing E-lectures are lacking collaborative learning and cultural exchange components
2. The solution
EramusOn: Bring Erasmus back online by providing two main services within our platform
- Collaborative studying
- Intercultural chat
3. The solution’s impact on the crisis
Students get the unique Erasmus experience despite personal isolation
Key features: Collaborative studying
- We enable European universities to stay connected during isolation
- We establish a new way of EU-wide collaborative studying in remote projects
- Easily find seminars from European universities
- Thanks to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), gained credit points are easily transferable to students’ home universities
Key features: Intercultural chat
- Match with students based on your interests and goals
- Connect with tandem partners across Europe, make new friends and share local impressions
- Learn new languages and improve your existing skills
- Get authentic ideas about each other’s culture, country and daily life
4. The value of our solution after the crisis
- We strengthen European cohesion through a uniform collaboration and exchange platform
- We reduce barriers for students with mobility issues or social constraints so that they can be part of the Erasmus community
- We support the continuous spread of the European idea, in addition to single and limited (time & location) exchange semesters
- We provide a scalable solution to include future partners, even beyond the EU
- Finally, we enable all these goals with a minimal environmental impact in line with the European Green Deal
5. What we have done during the weekend
- We researched the impact of Covid-19 on the Erasmus exchange program
- We built the idea for ErasmusOn from scratch
- We created a video and text pitch
- Built a first prototype
- We explored potential partners (EU institutions, universities, student associations)
6. The necessities to continue the project
- Funding for platform development (e.g. unused Erasmus funds)
- Collaboration with universities and national authorities to reach out to students (e.g. Erasmus Committee, European Association of Communications Agencies, ...)
- Quick implementation of the solution to support coming Erasmus cohort
