Inspiration

Online shopping has become a normal part of everyday life, but managing orders is surprisingly scattered. Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts, and delivery notifications are spread across email and different retailer websites. We wanted to create a single place where people could see everything they have purchased without manually entering each order.

What We Built

OneCart is an AI-powered order management agent that automatically finds purchase-related emails and turns them into organized order records. It extracts information such as the store, products, price, order date, delivery estimate, and tracking details, then keeps orders updated as new emails arrive.

Users can view all of their online purchases in one place, search and filter by store, price, date, or delivery status, and open individual orders to view their details and track packages.

How We Built It

We built OneCart around the Strands Agents SDK, giving the agent tools to search emails, extract order information, identify existing orders, update records, and process shipping and delivery updates. The agent works in the background and decides what information needs to be processed instead of requiring users to manually organize their purchases.

We designed the system with a database, email integration, agent tools, and a web dashboard, with AWS services used where appropriate.

What We Learned

Building OneCart taught us that making an AI agent useful is about more than generating text. The agent needs reliable tools, clear boundaries, structured data, and the ability to handle messy and inconsistent real-world information.

We also learned how important security and privacy are when working with email and purchasing data.

Challenges

One of our biggest challenges was making the agent reliably distinguish real order emails from advertisements and other messages. We also had to prevent duplicate orders when multiple emails referred to the same purchase and handle missing or inconsistent information.

Another challenge was designing the agent so it could work autonomously while still knowing when it should leave a decision to the user.

Ultimately, OneCart is our attempt to turn a fragmented shopping experience into one simple, automated system.
