Inspiration
OneBox was inspired by the feeling of starting the day with too many scattered thoughts and no clear first step.
Most productivity tools expect people to already know what matters, how long tasks will take, and where each task should fit on the calendar. But real life is messier than that. People start with brain dumps, meetings, family commitments, unfinished work, changing energy, and unexpected interruptions.
We wanted to build a calmer way to plan the day.
The core idea behind OneBox is:
$$ \text{Calm Execution} = \text{Focus} \times \text{Context} \times \text{Continuity} $$
A plan should not shame the user.
It should protect their real calendar, give them one clear next block, and help unfinished work continue gently.
What it does
OneBox turns messy tasks into a calm, calendar-aware focus plan.
Users start by entering a brain dump. OneBox then organizes those tasks into focus blocks while protecting existing Google Calendar-style events. It shows an AI Planning Receipt so users can understand what happened: which calendar events were protected, how many focus blocks were created, and whether any conflicts were avoided.
OneBox also includes:
- A Today/Tomorrow date selector
- Protected Google Calendar-style events
- Calendar-aware focus block planning
- Gentle Replan when the day changes
- Carryover for unfinished work
- Focus Mode with an analog focus clock
- Mock Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Drive sync
- Weekly Insight Garden inspired by Zettelkasten
- Monthly Memory Map for long-term themes
The larger vision is that OneBox does not just plan one day. It helps the user learn from how their days actually unfold.
How we built it
We built OneBox as a web app using:
- Next.js
- React
- TypeScript
