Inspiration

In India, 89% of students never reach Class 12, and 93% of those who do know only 7 out of 250+ available career options. Despite huge investments in infrastructure, government colleges remain under-enrolled — not because of poor quality, but due to a lack of awareness and guidance. We realized that:

Most students choose careers based on social pressure or limited exposure.

Parents drive 85% of career decisions but are often misinformed.

Government counseling initiatives failed because generic solutions didn’t fit local realities.

💡 Our inspiration: What if we could build an AI-powered ecosystem that helps families — not just students — make smarter, data-driven career decisions tailored to their region and income level?

What it does

One-stop, AI-powered career and education advisor that transforms career guidance into a family-inclusive, hyper-local, and continuous journey.

Key Features:

👩‍🎓 Dual-User System: Student dashboard (career interests, skills, progress) + Parent dashboard (ROI, college comparisons, financial planning).

🌍 Hyper-Local Intelligence: District-level job forecasts, real alumni data, local government colleges, and regional language support (Hindi & Punjabi).

🎯 AI-Powered Personalization: Aptitude tests, conflict resolution between student and parent preferences, and employability-first career suggestions.

🧭 Entrance Exam Integration: JEE/CET/NEET score-based predictions with 85%+ accuracy using five years of real counseling data.

🔔 Timeline Tracking: Automated alerts for exams, scholarships, counseling rounds, and deadlines.

🗣️ Voice-First Access: WhatsApp/IVR-based interaction for low-digital-literacy users.

🤝 Community Mentorship: Local mentors, parent-to-parent support, and alumni guidance networks.

How we built it

Tech Stack

Frontend: React Native (mobile), PWA (web), Tailwind CSS Backend: Node.js + Express, Flask (AI engine), Docker microservices, Redis (caching) Databases: MongoDB (user data), PostgreSQL (college/exam data), Neo4j (career path mapping) AI/ML: TensorFlow (career recommendation), NLP (voice input), hybrid recommendation models Integrations: WhatsApp API, Twilio IVR, Google Maps, payment gateway Data Sources: JoSAA, NEET, CET, government employment data, web scraping for real-time cutoffs

Development Process

Weeks 1–2: User research, wireframes, persona mapping

Weeks 3–4: Backend architecture and database schema design

Weeks 5–6: Model training and historical data cleaning pipelines

Weeks 7–8: Dual-dashboard frontend and API integration

Weeks 9–10: WhatsApp/IVR voice layer, testing, and optimization

Weeks 11–12: Pilot with 100 students & 50 parents in Pune

Challenges we ran into

Competition from free government apps: Pivoted to a B2B2C model targeting education departments, not students.

Data inconsistency across states: Built Python-based normalization and anomaly detection pipelines.

Low parent engagement: Added ROI calculators, real local success stories, and parent testimonials.

Real-time seat updates: Created scraping bots with caching and rate-limiting.

Voice recognition in Hindi/Punjabi: Trained custom vocabularies and added text confirmation fallback.

Rural connectivity issues: Implemented offline-first PWA, data prefetching, and SMS backup alerts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

85%+ accurate college admission predictions (tested on 2024 counseling data) First dual-user architecture (student + parent) for Indian education systems Real-time district-level job and education insights Voice-first AI career guidance in regional languages Active family participation in pilot phase Alignment with NEP 2020 and Skill India mission goals Sustainable B2B government model ensuring free student access

What we learned

Parents want financial clarity more than career options.

Students trust peers and alumni success stories over formal counselors.

Data quality drives AI accuracy — not just algorithms.

Family conflict, not lack of information, is the real decision barrier.

Localization and timing (exam seasons) drastically improve engagement.

Community + AI is the future of education guidance, not AI alone.
