Inspiration

While scrolling through short videos, I was captivated by the calming rhythm of Zentangle art—repetitive, flowing lines weaving into peaceful patterns that instantly soothed my restlessness. I wanted to make this healing accessible to everyone, so I built Zen Healing Studio: an AI tool that lets anyone create Zentangle art, no drawing skills required.

What it does

It’s a simple web app that uses AI to help you make Zentangle art. Choose a style, use easy tools, and create peaceful patterns without stress.

How we built it

I made the whole project in Google AI Studio with Typescript, and used the Gemini API to generate the Zentangle art.

Challenges we ran into

I had trouble balancing AI art quality with user control, fixing code bugs, and my Chrome tab crashed—so I couldn’t save/deploy the latest version, and had to use an older code for the demo. I started the project too late, since it is not easy for me to get it started.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I truly enjoy playing it personally—it makes me feel relaxed.

What we learned

Technology should serve the emotional experience, not overshadow it. Simplifying the process lets users focus on the healing, not the tool. Robust saving protocols and backup workflows are critical for development, especially when working with cloud-based AI platforms like Google AI Studio.

What's next for one day more

I’ll fix the code bugs, use more math/physics to make the brushstrokes more lively. If more days, I would like to add cloud storage to save art, build a community to share work, and
