Inspiration The absurdity of the everyday. The way even routine actions can become larger metaphors. This video was inspired by existential and cultural symbols that surround us every day - paperclips, office routines, the looming presence of systems, and the mysterious collective march of “ordinary people.” I wanted to explore how these icons, through the lens of humor and absurdity, can become metaphors for modern life and our search for meaning.
What it does Creating this project, I learned how visual storytelling can transform abstract, philosophical concepts into relatable images - using cockroaches, hands, and paperclips to represent anxiety, authority, and pointless routines. I built the project using advanced AI tools for video generation and narrative scripting, embracing rapid prototyping and iterative experimentation with character animation and scene design. The video uses fast-paced narrative, animated cockroach characters, and symbolic objects to explore philosophical, psychological and cultural ideas. It does not explain directly, but provokes the viewer to interpret: Are you the cockroach, the hand, or someone trying to break out of the system? It turns everyday symbols into universal questions about freedom, conformity, and personal meaning.
How we built it Scene-by-scene prompt generation, AI animation tools, script editing, and a focus on small details/ We used AI-based animation tools, scene and character prompt engineering, and iterative storyboarding. The project came to life through many small creative experiments. This video is presented as part of the #ChromaAwards competition. All information can be found on the website www.ChromaAwards.com. The music is sourced from CapCut libraries. Tools used: Klingai, CapCut, ChatGPT.
** Challenges we ran into: The main challenge was weaving together deep, universal questions - about purpose and freedom - without losing the video’s playful tone. I struggled to balance narrative clarity with philosophical depth, making sure the visual jokes stayed accessible while still hinting at existential struggle. The hardest part was keeping the philosophical message clear without losing the humor and accessibility of the animation. Balancing multiple metaphorical layers - cultural, psychological, existential - and making sure each scene remained engaging took many drafts. Technical challenges included prompt optimization for AI tools and editing timing.**
** Accomplishments that we're proud of/ We managed to create a narrative video that feels personal, yet universal; playful, but thought-provoking. We are proud of turning bland office imagery into engaging story elements and making the audience reflect on their role in the script. Successfully using AI tools for both animation and ideation was also a key achievement.**
What we learned: Narrative power comes from combining humor, symbolism, and AI creativity. We learned that experimental storytelling, especially when powered by AI, can unlock new ways to talk about deep topics in a fresh format. Combining humor and philosophy, and working in iterative creative loops, helped us push past ordinary video conventions.
What's next for one day from... We will continue developing new projects in storytelling and narrative design. The next step is to experiment with interactive formats—such as branching storylines, animated shorts, and collaborative AI-powered content. Our goal is to expand the use of humor, symbolism, and philosophical themes, always inviting the audience to reflect and engage. Each new video will push boundaries in visual narrative and challenge viewers to see meaning in everyday situations.
