Inspiration
I wanted bedtime stories to be more fun, with magic hidden in regular things. Everyone loves a story where they're the hero! This website lets people give the story a title and some details, then it makes a special story just for them. To build this, I used a cool tool called Gemini API, kind of like a special box full of story parts. My goal? To make bedtime stories exciting and personal for everyone!
What it does
This website is your own personal bedtime story machine! Just give it a title and a few details about what you'd like the story to be about, and it will use its magic (powered by the Gemini API) to whisk you away on a fantastical adventure. Imagine brushing your teeth with a unicorn or walking to school alongside a talking dog – the possibilities are endless!
How we built it
To bring this website to life, we used a special tool called the Gemini API. Think of it as a giant toolbox full of building blocks for stories. We used these blocks, along with some clever programming and prompt Engineering , to create a system that can understand your title and details, then put them together into a unique story just for you. I used the built in speech Synthesis as the text to speech model.
Challenges we ran into
Building a story machine wasn't easy! One of the biggest challenges was making sure the stories made sense and flowed smoothly. We had to teach the system how to connect different ideas and characters in a way that kept things exciting. Another was the format of the output response. Additional Functions and detailed prompts were required to make the story more readable.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're thrilled that we were able to create a website that lets people experience the magic of storytelling in a whole new way. It's also exciting to know that this website can spark creativity and imagination in everyone who uses it. Also, I am proud of the css and the design of the website.
What we learned
This project taught us a lot about the power of technology and its potential to create fun and engaging experiences. We also learned a ton about artificial intelligence and how it can be used to generate creative text formats like stories.
What's next for Once Upon an AI
We're always looking for ways to improve Once Upon an AI. In the future, we might add even more options for customizing your stories, or even let you choose the kind of magical elements you want to see! We're excited to see where this adventure takes us, and we hope you'll join us for the ride. Also, we would add more speech options and allow the users to train their own voice.
