Story Generation In Action!

Inspiration
We were mostly inspired by Generative AI and video games. We aspired to create a fun game-like experience while also leveraging the incredible power of AI. In the end, we successfully built something that turns storytelling into an interactive, fun, and playful experience.
What it does
Once Upon A Hack creates a coherent story based on one word inputs from the user. To be more clear, the user will be presented with a text box where they are to enter a single word. From this word a fragment of a story is constructed and continued via more single words inputted by the user. Mix & match conflicting words to see what crazy stories you can create!
How we built it
We built this project using many different tools including but not limited to: React, Python, Gemini AI for Image Generation, Herokuapp for random word generation, and OpenAI for story construction!
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some challenges when we tried hosting our web app and also with stories starting to deviate from the magical theme of this year's hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are just proud to have finished the project and to have overcome all obstacles that would have prevented that.
What we learned
We learned many things including Web Hosting, API calling, and AI prompting.
What's next for Once Upon A Hack
In the future, we would like to have people be able to share their created stories on forums and have them rated by others!
